1. Being a student of BSF Sr. Secondary School Shillong, the student must abide by the school rules and norms
2. No student is allowed to leave the school premises during school hours. The school shall charge a fine if a student is found roaming about the BSF Campus without permission by the concerned class teacher and duly signed by the principal.
3. Use of tobacco product is strictly prohibited in the school premises if a student is found indulged in using tobacco product, a strict disciplinary action will be taken against him as decided by the discipline committee of the school.
4. A student is supposed to be regular and punctual to school. If a student remains absent from school without prior sanctioned leave application, his or her name will be struck off from the nominal roll after 10 days.
5. A minimum of 75% attendance is mandatory for all the students of all the classes failing which the student may be barred from appearing in annual examination and promoted to the next class.
6. All home assignments must be completed in time and parents must ensure whether their ward has done the assignments properly.
7. If a student is suffering from any infectious disease, parents are advised not to send their ward to the school unless he/she recovers fully.
8. Students must not come up with valuable to school, in case of theft or loss of valuables the school shall not be held responsible for the same.
9. Parents and visitors are not allowed to visit the classes directly in any case, in case of an emergency, they may contact the concerned class teacher and the principal.
10. If a student is caught using unfair means during test or examination he/she will be awarded ‘0’ in the concerned subject and disciplinary action will be taken against him or her as decided by the examination
11. In case of re-evaluation in any of the subject of annual examination, the fee for the same will be Rs. 100/- per subject and the marks after re-evaluation will be considered as the final marks. However there will be no change in the rank.
12. Any damage done to the school property, has to be repaired or replaced and borne by the involved student. Fine will be imposed for damage done to school property failing which security deposit will be forfeited.
13. No student should bring electronic item or gadget to the school if a student is found with the same, a fine of Rs. 500/- will be charged from him/her with an undertaking from the parents. If the same mistake is repeated for the second time a fine of Rs. 1000/- will be charged if the same student does not mend his ways and found guilty for the same mistake again, the same will be confiscated by the school and strict disciplinary action will be taken against him/her as decided by the discipline committee of the school.
14. A student is liable to be expelled from the school on the following grounds:
a. Use of alcoholic beverages and hard drugs.
b. Smoking | Stealing | Gambling
c. Quarreling or any sort of hooliganism.
d. Defacing or damaging school property.
e. Being rowdy and unruly in the classroom or school office.
f. Skipping tests and examinations deliberately.
g. Being irregular in attending classes.
h. Showing disrespect to the teachers and the school staff.
i. Showing indifference to repeated warnings for violating school rules.15. No student is allowed to come to the school by self-driven four wheeler vehicle.16. Students coming to attend the school on two-wheller must carry a valid driving licence and a helmet.17. Every student is supposed to trim his/her hair which is appropriate and expected from a good student.18. Parents are expected to meet the concerned teachers of their wards on the last day of every month to know the progress of their ward.19. Every parent must attend the PTM as scheduled in the school calendar.
LIBRARY RULES
1. All the students of the school are members of the school Library.
2. Strict discipline and silence is to be observed in the Library.
3. Library books can be issued and returned during Library period of the class.
4. Marking, underlining, cutting and erasing in the Library books are strictly prohibited and punishable.
5. Text books, reference books, journals and periodicals are to be read in the library’s reading room only.
6. Library books are to be submitted at least 15 days before vacation.
7. No dues certificate for a student is to be obtained from the library while withdrawing from the school.
8. A book is issued for a period of 15 days only. The same book can be re-issued only after a gap of 17 days.
LEAVE RULES
1. Leave should be ensured personally before it is availed, in case of illness the leave application should be sent immediately with the medical certificate.
2. Leave application must be signed by the Father/Guardian of the student.
3. Application for leave exceeding three days, on account of illness should be supported by a medical certificate.
4. Leave upto a period of two days will be granted by the class in-charge. Leave for longer period will be granted by the Principal.
5. If proper leave application is not submitted on time, an absentee will be charged per day.
6. The name of the student will be struck off from the register if a student is absent for 10 consecutive days, without a prior grant of leave.
EXAMINATION POLICY 2026
The school conducts Unit Tests, Half Yearly and Annual examination to assess the academic performance of the students.Minimum attendance to appear Annual Examination should be 75%.
If a student miss any of the examination due to illness, a medical certificate of the registered MBBS doctor is required. In such case average marks on the basis of previous terms / exams will be awarded. However no position / rank would be allotted but if any student is absent in Annual Exam, He/She must appear in EIOP/Compartment exam (if applicable as per no. of subjects for the class IX and XI).
Any student indulged in unfair means during tests / exams the first sheet will be cancelled immediately and second sheet will be given. There will be a committee headed by the Principal to decide the punitive action in such case(s).
PROMOTION POLICY
i. Students of classes VI, VII and VIII should pass in all the subjects to get promoted to the next class.
ii. There will be no provision of grace marks in class IX and XI.
iii. A student of Class IX will be given compartment in two subjects only. If a student fails in more than two subjects, He/She will be detained in the same class
.iv. In case of class XI, a student will be given compartment in one subject only. If a student fails in more than one subject, he/she will be detained in the same class.
v. In practical subjects students will have to score passing marks in both practical and theory separately.
